I cannot believe that Ed and I have been married 6 years already, it's so amazing how fast the time goes by. We couldn't be together for our anniversary (I know, I know, big surprise there) but we talked and still had a good day. Ed sent me personalized M&M's, smart man always buying me food instead of flowers, and they are so cute. I love them, it was such a nice surprise. Layla and I opened up a bag of them but she wouldn't eat any of Ed's face, she got a baggie and saved all of those. LOL I feel so lucky to be married to my best friend. I can't even imagine my life without Ed, he is the best husband I could ask for. Happy 6 years, love, here's to the next 100!
Or Chops for short. Today we got to go to the Ontario airport with my brother and pick up his new pet, a mini pig! And she is just so precious. She is only expected to be about 15-20 lbs. which is smaller than a lot of dogs. She makes the cutest noises, grunts, and squeals. Layla fell in love with her too. Do I see a mini pig in our future? Only time will tell but for now we're enjoying Glen's pig so much! She is the sweetest little thing and kept falling asleep in my arms and on the back of my neck. I can't get enough of this little cuddle bug, Glen is going to get annoyed with us being at his house all the time to visit Chops.
I know I have said this in other blog posts (but never showed a picture of it) but the thing I am most proud of in our garden is our gorgeous sunflower. We got a little seed kit at Home Depot when we first started gardening. We planted it inside in a little container for a week or so and when it got big enough, we transplanted it outside. So basically, we planted a seed and in a couple of months our seed turned into this: It is so strong and so beautiful that I had to plant more. We have two more growing close to this one and they are taking off as well. I can't wait until we have 3 gorgeous sunflowers growing in our garden.
I know I always go on and on about what a great swimmer Layla is and how she thinks she's a mermaid but she just impresses me in the pool each time she goes in and I can't help but share it. We were at my Grandma's house today and she has this awesome pool with a diving board. I haven't been swimming there in ages, it brought my back to my childhood days when we were there every weekend, swimming in the pool with all my cousins. Anyway, I love diving boards so of course I was jumping off of it and I finally asked Layla if she would like to jump off with me. I was actually surprised when she told me she wanted to, so I held her and we jumped off, just like that. She loved it! She is still a little nervous to swim in the deep end all by herself (I take her out there and she'll do it, but it's still scary for her to do it alone), so she grabbed a float and started jumping off the diving board all by herself. Not just once, I'm talking over and over and over again. By the time we got out of the pool she was exhausted! So once again, she impressed me with her bravery in the water. I'm so proud of my little mermaid!
What a fun night we had! It was so spontaneous and I didn't know what we were actually doing until we were there doing it. My brother had called me earlier in the day and told me he got a room at the Renaissance Esmeralda for the night and that Layla and I were more than welcome to come hang out with him and the kids. So, you know us, we're always up for new adventures, we were totally there. They ended up having this awesome Nickelodeon program at the hotel for the kids. There was a "mass slimming" where all the kids stood on the grass and then the slime was spayed on them. It was so cool, I would have loved doing that! When I was little I always watched kids get slimmed on Nickelodeon and thought how cool it would be if I could get slimmed too. But Layla didn't think it was very cool, just look at how scared she looks! This picture cracks me up, it totally captures what she was thinking. LOL After all 3 kids ran and hid behind us when the slime started, we decided it was time for swimming. And not just any swimming, it was movie swimming night. This means that while the kids were swimming there was a movie playing on the grass. Tonight's movie was the Spongebob Movie, the kid's favorite! Once it started getting dark, the kids got wrapped up in towels and cuddled in their lawn chairs to watch the rest of the movie.
